As a professional Artist I trained at The Central School of Art and Design London in the early 1970s. Both Studio and Manufacturing techniques of Ceramic tableware and sculpture were my main study.
Later I spent several decades teaching Art at secondary school level. Following from this I began a ceramics business involving hand-painted designs. These were incorporated in to the decorative scheme of bathrooms and kitchens.
Since retiring, watercolour painting has been my main focus for the past 7 years, using images and contemporary themes based on my home, locality and holidays overseas.
My fascination with the techniques of watercolours and the effects that are unique to this medium have grown. I paint with overlays of colour using a direct application of brush strokes. I employ light and dark effects that only watercolours can achieve. I focus on line and textures that interact with colours on a variety of paper grades.
l successfuly exhibited in my home over three years as part of The South East Kent Artist Open House scheme supported by The Canterbury Festival.
